Laura Love

Laura Love is a charismatic, energetic, much sought after performer for all manner of festivals, concerts and special events. She has received a great deal of media attention since 1990 for her nine CD releases and her astonishingly great live show. While her music is hard to pigeon-hole, it is easy to love. Her "folk-funk", "Afro-Celtic", "funk-a-billy" groove and exquisite vocals are always the favorite of the weekend or concert series. Laura performs as a full band, an acoustic duo, or in a spoken word presentation.

The Laura Love Band: Laura has been touring North America with a funky, soulful, rollicking band since the early 1990s. Her amazing voice is supported by her bandmates' intricate harmonies and punctuated by her funky bass playing and their spicy guitars, fiddle, mandolin, drums and percussion. The Laura Love Band has performed at nearly every major festival in the U.S. and Canada for almost 15 years and shows no sign of slowing down.

The Laura Love Duo: The Duo is Laura with her long time bandmate, Jen Todd performing primarily acoustic versions of Laura's original music, some of Jen's superb songs, and a smattering of choice traditional tunes and surprising covers. Jen Todd is well known in the Northwest through her work with the fabulous 3 Track Mind, and she is an astounding singer/songwriter/guitarist in her own right. Together, Laura and Jen are a mighty vocal force. This is a quieter show than what she does with the band, but it is equally riveting and dynamic and in great demand for festivals and concerts.

Laura Love Spoken Word: Laura Love survived a difficult childhood and took a circuitous and interesting path to end up being the happy and productive adult that she is today. Her story is so interesting that Hyperion Books published her memoir, You Ain't Got No Easter Clothes, in August, 2004. The book has received excellent attention from major media sources such as National Public Radio , The Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Seattle Times, Kirkus Reviews, Publishers Weekly, Writer's Digest, etc. Laura has developed a 45 ­ 60 minute presentation that consists of her reading segments of the memoir followed by singing songs that she wrote to accompany the chapters in the book. Those songs are available on a KOCH Records CD, also titled You Ain't Got No Easter Clothes. Her readings are appropriate for literary festivals, speakers series, library events and book fairs.
